fruits basket remake

saiunkoku monogatari

moribito

chihayafuru

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:20

Thank you!!!!!! I haven’t even heard of any of these. Saiunkoku and moribito look perfect

NOMursE2026-01-30 20:32

Saiunkoku Monogatari is a personal favorite. It’s free with ads on Pluto dubbed.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:36

I am putting it on right now !!!

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:37

Thank you

eruciform2026-01-30 20:34

here's some mini reviews and trailers for them if you like, all of the above are on my 10/10 list (as is apothecary diaries): https://www.reddit.com/user/eruciform/comments/nng53n/top_1010_anime_plus_unique_art_and_cinematography/

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:42

I will try fruits basket too. Nausicaa is one of my favourite films as well. I also freaking loved Angel’s Egg. Thanks

ysabellatrix2026-01-30 21:15

Fruits basket is my favourite! Incredibly well written characters. You’ll need a box of tissues.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 21:22

My favourite I loveeeeee crying !!! Ok I’ll watch next for sure. Thank you for replying 🌺🌸🌹

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 22:09

Random question. I am watching and loving Saiunkoku. But do you know of any animes with cute animal characters that feature strongly? But still have like that depth and plot. Probably does not exist?

eruciform2026-01-30 22:26

aria has lots of interactions with cat characters, one of which is very anthropomorphic and almost human

incidentally you can watch the entire series for free and legal on youtube, minus the movies and a couple ova specials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0sZ3-B5Phw&list=PLrrh84y760v9xnuf6f-Rzu-ndJ2D1uIXg

peace, love, and cats

one episode will show you everything you need to know about this gloriously kind, loving, happy series; it's liquid hugs and sweetness

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 22:54

Thank you so much 🐱

BusyHoney97672026-01-30 20:20

Here's some series you could try that are similar to AD. They don't have as many female support characters though.

Yona of the Dawn(finally getting a second season)

Saiunkoku Monogatari

Raven of the Inner Palace

Ascendance of a Bookworm

Beast Player Erin

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:35

I’m going to put Saiunkoku on now!!!! Thank you

Nghtmare-Moon2026-01-30 20:36

+ on AoaB and raven

seventhlayercurse2026-01-30 20:22

Well Frieren fits your exact description ig you have already watched it.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:36

Indeed I have but of course !! Thank you

its_hipolita2026-01-30 20:22

hardly *slow* *burn* since they get engaged in episode 1, but maybe Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury would be up your alley!

Also if you really want more Chinese inner palace supernatural mystery solving with romance, Raven of the Inner Palace is exactly that.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:34

I’ve seen Raven! I will try Mobile Suit Gundam

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:34

Thank you

Xanill2026-01-30 20:23

yona of the dawn

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:39

Oh hell yeah. Yep thank you

gud_fellow2026-01-30 20:30

Secrets of The Silent Witch.

I feel like this is the closest show to Apothecary Diaries that I've watched. Female lead is a overpowered Witch, sent on a mission to protect the prince. But she isn't nonchalant like Maomao. She's a traumatized and socially awkward girl.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:33

Aren’t we all. Thank you that’s a perfect rec

gud_fellow2026-01-30 21:00

No Problem. I'm glad to help!

Nettysocks2026-01-30 20:35

Hyouka could fit your taste, it’s a top tier mystery solving anime

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:40

Ohh wow I love the art! Thank you

Lunchb0xx872026-01-30 20:43

try out accession of a bookworm if you haven't already it scratches that itch imo

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:44

I am itchy !! Must be all the worms. I will try it thank you so much!

abandoned_idol2026-01-31 04:04

The writing of Ascendance of a Bookworm is highly regarded and got a 4th season when fans thought it would never get more seasons.

Try your best to hook yourself onto this train. Good writing and fairly long adaptation to fall in love with.

catferret82026-01-30 20:45

The female characters are not always the focus but are very interesting: yatagaresu

CommanderZx22026-01-30 20:46

You may be interested in Aria the Animation and its sequel seasons & movies. It is one of the most relaxing anime ever as well, here's a trailer [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NraaWUZxWZw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NraaWUZxWZw)

It's more sci-fi than magic, but there's definitely elements supernatural in some episodes.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:55

Relaxing sounds great. Thank you for this rec

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:56

And soundtrack looks great too

NOMursE2026-01-30 20:50

Other suggestions are great. If I can a few more how about. Yona is getting another season soon and it’s fantastic.

**Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose its Master**

**Snow White with the Red Hair**

**Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp**

**Ameku MD**

**Ya Boy Kongming** (hear me out, military advisor from a period much like Diaries magically transported to modern Tokyo to support a struggling musician gain traction. No romance but it has the magical realism and is fun)

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:59

Thank you!!! Snow White looks good if I can overcome the empathetic misery when she cuts off her hair lmao

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 20:59

And Yona looks perfect thank you

BJRone2026-01-30 21:03

Fruits Basket(2019) and Yona of the Dawn would be perfect for you.

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 21:23

I will watch Fruits Basket next !!! Thank you. I can’t wait !

BJRone2026-01-31 00:43

Awesome, enjoy!

pewell12026-01-30 21:30

From the New World!!! Many people who love apothecary diaries also love this one!

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 22:23

Amazing !! Thank you

FoodieMonster0072026-01-30 21:44

More on the crime-solving side than the relaxing side:
- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
- In/Spectre
- Gosick
- Undead Girl Murder Farce
- Beautiful Bones: Sakurako's Investigation
- Danganronpa The Animation

AdsoOfMelk13262026-01-30 22:08

In/Spectre looks great. Also the play on inspector is amazing
