Just finished MHA Final Season. Need recommendations for something similar!

Yo! I just wrapped up the latest season of My Hero Academia and I’m definitely feeling that post-anime void. I’m looking for something that hits the same way — great power systems, hype fights, and that "zero to hero" or "underdog" journey.

Important: Please don’t suggest the classic big hitters because I’ve already seen:

• Naruto / Shippuden

• Bleach

• Fairy Tail

• Black Clover

I’m looking for something maybe a bit more modern or something I might have missed. Preferably with a good cast of side characters like Class 1-A.

What’s the next best thing to scratch that MHA itch? Thanks!

Hi kilimanja74, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

Fire force and blue exorcist give me the same vibe as mha good power systems and good fight animation

kilimanja742026-01-30 21:03

I watched the first season of the Fire Force, but I didn't really like it.

Wrong_Dish63332026-01-30 21:35

You could watch something like dandadan which is more spontaneous and fun

kilimanja742026-01-30 21:41

I saw it. Its really on 🔥

Mob Psycho 100

Careless-Caregiver472026-01-30 21:12

It has nothing to do with what he asked for.

jbrake2026-01-30 21:16

I disagree.

- Mob is zero to hero and very likable like Deku.
- Hype fights
- great animation
- Side characters are pretty great, especially in S2 onward.
- Modern setting.

Feel free to post your own suggestions, since that is far more helpful to OP.

Edit: re: "Mob isn't zero to hero"

He has a Humble Beginning, Journey, Heroic Act, then becomes a Rising Hero just like Deku, which is the definition of a Zero to Hero storyline.

The difference is Mob's Humble Beginning isn't that he is weak like Deku, it's that he is a social loser trying to figure out how to connect to people genuinely. He starts from a place of loneliness, lack of self-worth, and a fear of not being loved for who he is rather than his abilities.

He *literally* starts at an emotional 0 and climbs to 100 throughout the series until he eventually finds the appropriate 100 to climb to.

Gullible_Egg_65392026-01-30 22:03

Mob is not zero to hero.

Also by the same studio

Well there's the MHA prequel spin-off:

MHA: Vigilantes - You do see some characters from the main series make appearances. Season 2 is currently airing.

kilimanja742026-01-30 21:18

Will all-might be there?

Ok-Cod52542026-01-30 21:19

He'll make some appearances here and there. Though out of the main series characters, you get the most with Aizawa.

kilimanja742026-01-30 21:39

I will try it, thanx for recommendation 😉

Uma-apreciator2026-01-30 21:13

Gachiakuta

Kengan Ashura

BeckQuillion892026-01-30 21:15

To Be Hero X is exactly what you're looking for

Dull_Spot_82132026-01-30 21:45

You can try Kaiju no.8, which has a similar underdog flavor and very clearly has allusions to popular other shonen, My Hero Academia included.

kilimanja742026-01-30 21:48

Already watched, cant wait for season 3)))

Dull_Spot_82132026-01-30 21:52

Ok, hear me out, what about Haikyu? It may not have your battle shonen fights, but those volleyball matches might as well be. And it’s got great heart and characters, just like MHA.

Dumey2026-01-30 21:56

I'm always happy to try and shoehorn in a Gundam recommendation whenever I can.

Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans.

Features a large ensemble cast of mostly kids to young adults, as they gain responsibilities and power and have to try and survive in a corrupt world where adults take advantage of them every which way they go. The main character can be a bit boring/quiet at times even though he is super talented and saves the day quite often with heroic action sequences, but most of the more complex interesting character drama happens with his close friends and fellow pilots.

It's a decent length but finishes at a shorter run time than MHA, and you get to see the kids adventures from start to finish.

Confused-penguin52026-01-30 22:36

There’s My Hero Vigilantes if you haven’t started it.

kilimanja742026-01-30 22:37

I will check

MusubiKazesaru2026-01-30 22:36

Tiger & Bunny

Undead Unluck

Magi

Thanx

MusubiKazesaru2026-01-30 22:38

No problem

'Kimetsu no yaiba', 'Charlotte'.

Keep an eye out for the reboot of World Trigger's first season.

It's the #1 battle shounen when it comes to fight scripts. e.g. Outnumber > Stealth > Smarts > Brawn

That said, someone might warn you that the anime's protagonist doesn't grow significantly stronger, and they'd be correct. This story obsesses with strategy.

Don't you dare watch the old season 1. You want good animation and pacing.
