Anime where mc gets turned into something else

I’m looking for anime recommendations where the mc gets turned into something else/their appearance gets changed. I very much enjoyed Kaiju 8, AoT and The Unwanted Undead Adventurer (also Solo Leveling and JJK if you can put them in this category). I’ve also seen Arifureta, Tokyo Ghoul and a bit of Gleipnir and Dandadan which were not quite my cup of tea.

Hi Unuuttipukki, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

Reincarnated as sword

Boris-_-Badenov2026-01-31 17:14

can't wait for season 2

No_Cockroach24672026-01-31 15:27

It happens before the start of the story, but Dorohedoro's MC has a lizard head due to wizards.

zRafox2026-01-31 15:29

Chainsaw Man (the name says it all)
Fumetsu no Anata e (the god-like protagonist can take the form of things that have impacted him)
Parasyte (an alien parasitizes the protagonist's hand and enhances his body)
Re:Life (he takes a medicine and regains a youthful appearance)
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (an isekai where he switches bodies between slime and human, though it might not be what you're looking for)

crackalakaling2026-01-31 15:30

My favourite, that time I got reincarnated as a slime.

Uma-apreciator2026-01-31 15:30

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon

MC it is reincarnated as a vending machine (duh) and can transform into different types of vending machines too!!

Hooked13G2026-01-31 15:52

and despite how ridiculous it sounds, the vending machine isekai is unironically a really good show.

Boris-_-Badenov2026-01-31 17:15

it's trash

Asturaetus2026-01-31 15:39

"Xam'd: Lost Memories" would come to mind.

Kadmos12026-01-31 17:46

That anime was beautiful.

No-Craft-66232026-01-31 22:15

Was it!!!! You just reminded me to finish it. I miss this art style, where everything was fluid. It's completely different today

Some trivia: a. [wikipedia.org/wiki/Kylee\_Saunders](http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Kylee_Saunders) is the singer of the ED. She was born in Chandler, AZ. Chandler is part of the PHX metro. ZIP code wise, I live in Glendale.

b. Atsushi Abe played Akiyuki, as well as the lead in "Farming Life". Blake Shepard was his Eng. dub counterpart for both shows. Luci "Ochako" Christian was Nakiami and Monica "Froppy" Rial was Haru. All 3 Eng. dub VA also were the 3 leads in "Farming Life". Lucy played a vampire waifu and Monica played an angel waifu.

John Swasey (AFO in MHA) is an FB buddy and was the director for FL's Eng. dub. A June 6, 2023 FB post on his Wall had me ask this: "I know that you cast Luci, Monica, and Blake as the leads in 'Farming Life'. All 3 were also the leads in 'Xam'd: Lost Memories'. Was the FL reunion coincidental or intentional that way?"

After John said it was a total coincidence, I said "Coincidentally. Blake's counterpart for FL was also his X:LM counterpart."

Reincarnated as a vending machine, now forced to wander the dungeon

Parasyte

So I'm a spider, now what?

Madoka Magica

and thats just what I could think of in 60 seconds lol

TheBlazinghirex2026-01-31 15:56

Towa no Quon...Mc can transform into an Aquatic like creature

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yAZ4TmawChE&pp=ygUUVG93YSBubyBRdW9uIHRyYWlsZXI%3D

Kadmos12026-01-31 17:47

That is going to be quite a big list because there are or can be many MC who have the power to change their appearance. Depending on strict or loose u/Unuuttipukki defines such a transformation, going Super Saiyan or higher in the DB franchise is applicable.

TehZiiM2026-01-31 18:27

There’s this anime where mc becomes a dog… nah forget about it.

Ranma 1/2 is a classic. Just got a reboot if you haven’t seen it.
