Thank you very much for your continued support of Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.
We regret to inform you that, following extensive discussions with her agency, tomorrow jam, it has been decided that Yumiri Hanamori, who portrayed Hitomi Koshigaya, will be stepping down from the role.
This decision was made after we received a request from her agency, and after careful consideration and discussions, both parties have reached a mutual agreement.
Regarding the new cast member, further details will be announced once they have been finalized.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support of Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.

Magilumiere was my favorite anime of last year. I bet they'll do a good job on the recast. There's a lot of good talent in Japan
porpoiseoflife2026-01-31 19:25
It wasn't quite my favorite of the entire year, but it definitely won my favorite slot for Fall 2024.
Fools_Requiem2026-01-31 18:17
This feels like something you say when contract negotiations fall through and you don't want to tell people that you didn't want to pay her what her agency thought she was worth.
timpkmn892026-01-31 19:50
It definitely could have been other things other than money. They're still able to afford Fairouz Ai.
Possibly disagreements about things like PR appearances, scheduling issues, or bad experiences during S1.
cppn022026-01-31 22:14
> that you didn't want to pay her what her agency thought she was worth.
Unless you're a big star with a long time in the industry you don't actually get to negogiate your pay and instead your salary is detemined by a fixed ranking system.
If there was a disagreement it was more likely over what u/timpkmn89 described.
Acceptable_Mushroom2026-01-31 22:22
I read that that only happens in US. Voice actors over there cannot negotiate for payment unless they are superstars. As you said, they have ranking system. So, it is probably not payment dispute
Nachtwandler_FS2026-02-01 02:38
Last time something similar happened (at least was officially reported) was back in 2018 when one of the main seiyuu for Island was replaced because staff could not get in agreement with her agency regarding screentime and some PR stuff as far as I remember.
rainzer2026-02-01 04:52
Wonder if it's something more on her end. Didn't she barely show up as her biggest role in the Kaguya OVA and just skipped Hayasaka's arc
Some of the replies on JP side speculating an issue with the sound director, Masafumi Mima, having a reputation with some VAs being afraid of him
xithebun2026-01-31 19:48
‘Her agency’ is basically Hanayumi herself. She founded ‘tomorrow jam’ in 2023 and is the representative director of her company of two VAs.
TyraniTEMPESTar2026-01-31 17:58
I wonder what happened?
I remember watching this last year and her character was my favorite of the show.
Hopefully they can get someone with the same type of energy to fill the role.
LyghtSpete2026-01-31 18:08
Won’t be easy!
_Pyxyty2026-01-31 18:57
Moment I saw this post, I immediately pulled up and rewatched one of my saved clips in my gallery of Magilumiere, which is her fight scene in the very first episode. Mann.... The VA had such a great voice for the character, she was my favorite from recent years.
1000-MAT2026-01-31 17:58
Does anyone know what the likely reason was? I hope it's nothing serious like health problems or something silly involving idol fans.
LyghtSpete2026-01-31 18:08
All I’ve seen is “internal friction” alluded to…
brucebananaray2026-01-31 18:23
So it seems about how much that she should get payed.
LyghtSpete2026-01-31 18:26
Shocking!
1000-MAT2026-01-31 18:55
If that's the case, I think it would be very rare; it's easier for them not to pay the staff than the Seiyuu.
Acceptable_Mushroom2026-01-31 22:24
I read that that only happens in US. Voice actors over there cannot negotiate for payment unless they are superstars. They use ranking system which means that the voice actors would be placed in those ranking regarding payment
1000-MAT2026-01-31 18:53
Will there be any conflicts with other cast or staff members?
LyghtSpete2026-01-31 19:10
Your crystal ball is as clear as mine but I’m going to go with PROBABLY…
Thomas_JCG2026-01-31 18:14
Well, that's a bummer. But at least confirmed a sequel was on the way
rotten_riot2026-01-31 19:45
We already knew, it airs on July this year
Thomas_JCG2026-01-31 21:27
well, I didnt
Need_not_to_know2026-01-31 20:08
They probably had the same problem since season 1. They had a radio show back then where Fai-chan is the only host, and almost all of the main cast became guests except for Yumirin. Even the PV announcement for season 2 didn't have any voices, most likely because they couldn't use her voice anymore.
CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-31 20:44
That's unfortunate as her voice fits Hitomi-senpai's reliable (?) personality so well.
Xatu442026-02-01 00:27
**NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ;_;**
Gippy_2026-02-01 02:53
Totally understandable.
Some talents just want to do voice acting without all of the extra baggage attached to it like radio shows, insert songs, concerts, meetups, and all that other promotional stuff. Not confirmed, but I bet the production committee of Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc wanted her to commit to extra work she didn't want.
jacowab2026-02-01 11:45
That makes sense, even if they pay well for those extra works Id assume getting more anime roles would be better for her career.
Gippy_2026-02-01 14:03
I'm reminded about Bushiroad's current strategy with BanG Dream. In the past, they had bands that were full of established voice talent like for *Afterglow*, *Pastel Palettes*, and *Hello Happy World*. Problem was that those bands couldn't perform in-person live events, as those talents didn't play instruments. Ayane Sakura and Sumire Uesaka will never go on tour; they are A-list voice actresses.
Now BanG Dream has bands like *MyGO* and *Ave Mujica* which are more sustainable: every member isn't an A-list voice talent, and they can perform live concerts. It isn't a logistics and scheduling nightmare, and is more sustainable in the long run. More companies are turning towards fresher talent, especially for music anime.
