How is Bleach’s tone in comparison to Naruto? I’m considering starting this show.
So I finished Naruto recently. Loved it. Especially the Akatsuki arc, Part 1 Sasuke Conflict.
Did not feel anything for war arc because the fights were them throwing nukes at each other and writing took a massive hit.
So would you recc Bleach if these are things I’m looking for:
1. A very 2000s feeling gritty vibe like part 1 naruto. Stays tonally consistent. (Naruto lost that vibe mid way and became completely generic by the end)
2. No nukes. Just well choreographed fights.
3. Better worldbuilding and less self righteous MC.
4. Less weird megazord like stuff like Suzano, aliens etc
Why am I considering Bleach over modern anime? Cause it has that particular 2000s industrial vibe to its aesthetic, something part 1 Naruto had. That vibe is EVERYTHING to me.

I just came across this Bleach [track](https://youtu.be/PLyi5xHtkb0?si=QZF3FySofDX3G3BQ) and holy shit, it has such a cool yet creepy vibe to it that screams like an industrial track from 2000s. Does it feel like that for the whole show or only the early parts?
1 it definitely stays consistent
2 the fights are well choreographed but their are some “nukes”
3 in my opinion Naruto has better “world building” than bleach
4 there isn’t really any megazord fighting per say but their are some really broken abilities
There are different races which each have their own like specialties most notably: shinigami, Quincy and arrancar… some of them are very very broken
Honestly with your criteria it seems like you are looking for hunter x hunter and not bleach.
Quite honestly hunter x hunter is better than Naruto and bleach in almost every single way…
Reasons id watch hunter x hunter:
The characters are fantastic (no annoying tropes or fan service).
The world building is phenomenal (literally such a vast world and it’s so much bigger than you are lead to believe)
The arcs are all unique (literally never a stale arc, something to appreciate in each)
The fighting is amazing (they actually use strategy and not some one shot bs)
There are several cool factors (imo best rage scenes in all of anime)
Plot (the main characters have a decisive goal from the beginning, makes the show very easy to digest and each of the characters goals are all so different)
Pacing (you will never get bored of the show, super easy to binge, not super long, there isn’t really much “filler” or stupid scenes to drag out episodes)
Good luck man! I’d watch bleach but hunter x hunter seems to be more of what you are looking for and imo is the better show
I think tonally they're pretty comparable. Early Bleach feels more like a slice-of-life comedy, lots of gags and lightheartedness. Things start to pick up during the Soul Society arc, where the tone shifts to become more of a standard battle-shounen. It's executed really well imo, good worldbuilding, big cast full of memorable characters too.
This may not be important to you, but Bleach does a great job with PoC representation too. Chad was the first time I saw a latino in anime, and as a hispanic weeb, I felt seen lol. Lots of cool Black and Brown characters
Give it a try! It oozes style, and like another commenter mentioned, don't skip the intro! Asterisk is one of my favorite anime openings of all time, makes me feel like a little kid again whenever I watch it.
2- the fight is cool and stylish, but it basically go new threat appear, so much better than you that they teleport /fastet behind you and one shot you, then Ichigo train and teleport /faster behind them and one shot them, rinse and repeat.
there is Aizen's bullshit no Jitsu, amount couple other, but its mostly just above
3- alot of people like me, think Bleach gone down hill after save Rukia arc, after which, world bulding/story just took a backseat and turn into pure battle manga
4-isnt the alien shit from Boruto?
above may sound harsh, but i think Bleach is great until end of save Rukia arc, start and mid way of Aizen bullshitdo arc is good then its just turn into stylish battle manga of teleporting behind each other. i checked out long before the ending arc. but the current ending arc anime is hard carrying with the superb fight animation .
The comedy is usually better executed as well
It's moody, it's somber, it wants you to see the fit when they power up, say ban-kai and even the abilities mirror the person's persona it's so good
It's a more vibes and aura story than Naruto but it still packs a punch
Also the comedy is really good :D
For your questions, without spoilers:
1) Yes, kinda. It has goofy humor and a mascot character (more of those if you watch the filler) too though, so don't go in expecting AOT or Black Lagoon level of bleakness. There is a shift from very early arc laid back school life to more full on battle anime, but after that it stays consistent.
2) Nope, it has nukes.
3) Worse (or "less intricate") world building than Naruto IMO, but it doesn't really attempt it so it doesn't fail at it either... I mean it doesn't really go indepth the way Naruto or something like AOT does. But yeah, less self righteous MC, though whether Ichigo is that for good or bad reasons I leave up to you... I like him, but again I think this is a writing choice by the mangaka, not so much a failure or success.
4) Nope, it has multiple different groups and their different power systems, as well as some "biblical" level stuff that affects multiple planes of existence etc.
