There are two Berseria episodes plus a third flashback later in the show.
Real reason was that Berseria came out the same year as the Zestiria anime. No one knew how it would be received, and by the time they could gauge that and make a Berseria anime four years would have passed. Even if preproduction started COVID would have killed it.

Yeah, while the games are set in the same world but way too far apart, the anime spends 2 episodes showing the beginning of that game
But the episodes themselves are irrelevant to Zestiria anime plot but since Berseria released around the same time it was probably done as a marketing tactic
