[I will never get tired of Kaya being a occult slayer.](https://i.imgur.com/l9d722P.jpeg)
Chie still has some training to go with her esper levels.
Good thing she can still get her adult tooth back. Though pulling a baby tooth out prematurely still gotta hurt.
We know when that one Specter tried to mimic her mom's form, it was a touchy subject for Kaya.
Seems like her pregnant mother's been possessed and is now going to give live birth to some sorta specter or creature from the "*other side*".
I wonder if she was possessed before getting pregnant, or after the fact and what sorta ramifications that could potentially mean, giving birth to something like that?
Although, some of the scary mysteries we've seen have had some "logical" explanations.
So I wonder if Kaya's mother is unknowingly carrying a stillbirth?
It would make sense Kaya could see the dead ghost " "*growing*" " inside her, and is unable to exorcise it still within her.
And maybe all that ghostly aura consuming her mother could be linked to some sorta medical complications like an infection carrying a dead baby within her?
Looking forward to seeing this mystery play out a bit more. And what this means for Kaya and her family.
So it’s not Kaya’s mom that’s a Lovecraftian monstrosity, it’s the baby right? Or whatever it is growing inside her. That shit was genuinely frightening. I guess you gotta have some psychic ability to sense her. I can see why Kaya hates babies….
Love when they bring back a line like that hah.
(Less of a delay, but I liked the "Oh, you're here too!")
And she's good at jump rope!
>So it’s not Kaya’s mom that’s a Lovecraftian monstrosity, it’s the baby right? Or whatever it is growing inside her. That shit was genuinely frightening. I guess you gotta have some psychic ability to sense her. I can see why Kaya hates babies….
It seems like the baby is playing host to the specter and in the process has wholly possessed Kaya's mom in the process. That's why Kaya sees her mom in its entirety as both that horrifying face in her moms' belly and also an empty hole where her moms' head would be.
Yeah...no wonder she dropped that hating babies line earlier.
Yea, that was explicitly stated at the end after the credits.
So Chie might be able to see *something*, but only when they're going after her, or at least somewhat involved with her!
The only mercy I suppose is that the mother seems unaffected mentally. She's clearly affected physically and in terms of stamina. But I can't imagine having a specter possessed baby inside of her will do anything good for Kaya's mother in the long term...
Kaya just suffers from that issue in general. She didn't see the girl either because specter was infront of her, and only became aware of her when the girl spoke up. Mob's vision is "better" in that sense since he can see both, but as a result he can't just 1-hit them like Kaya can.
Though what is notable is that Kaya can't even *hear* her mother.
Yes
Hopefully it just means they have to wait for the birth before Kaya can exorcise the ghost to save her sibling, but that might be a bit optimistic given how badly for the mother that trope tends to go in horror stories.
Crazy how to Kaya (and those with minor powers) she's an eldritch abomination, but to the father/everyone else 'She's just a little tired because she's pregnant'!
[](#spooked)
That's a good way to counter Kaya. Her incredible powers can't deal with what she can't touch. And because she's so powerful she can't even see her mother under that nightmare.
Mirror Universe Mero is still around, but not causing trouble. Maybe the other staff and kids prefer her, just like with Mirror Universe Cartman.
It would be interesting if Mirror Universe Mero-sensei turns out to be a genuinely good person outside of her willingness to trade places with the real Mero-sensei to escape the Mirror Universe. No ulterior motives, no hidden personalities, just someone who is a positive influence to everyone around her despite not being human.
Hmmm do they? It depends on if it was cared for or treated like trash the moment it wasn't shiny new
At this point, I think the real Mero-sensei is just an asshole, so the mirror one is nice.
I like how her mother's pregnancy sort of play into the "antichrist" movie trope with the potential demon/monster baby.
The "A" plot of the story is pretty nice too. My favourite one would be the lost girl who couldn't come home. That reveal at the end at the drain will definitely terrorize her forever. Poor kid.
So far, this has been a very engaging and fun show. Definitely passed the 3 episode rule for me and I can't wait to reach the ending of the season.
> Aka-chan nante,
You ever heard a more foreboding line?
HER SKIPPING ROPE IS ADORABLE
Well that explains things. It's not the mother that's the problem, it's the baby. Which is why the ghostly face was that low on her silhouette.
📞 **calling friend**
That’s weird, he usually picks up, he must be busy with something else right now; hopefully I can get in touch with him soon.
In all seriousness though, the only thing more unsettling than the fact that no one other than Kaya (and to an extent Mob) can see the eldritch horror her mother has become is the fact that as far as we can tell Kaya can't even hear her mom any more. It's all just monstrous gurgling, while to everyone else she sounds like a sweet Mamiko Noto MILF.
After the previous episode, I wouldn't trust anything anymore!

[The fact that they know there is "something", but even Kaya-chan can't deal with... Scary!](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/e0afca5306d7.png)
[Her little creepy inquisitive stares are so good hah.](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/30bca496c18b.png)

[Good lord.](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/a0fe3cddb061.png)
Somehow I never thought about the fact that... To them, she would look perfectly normal.
Somehow it makes it even scarier.

[SISTER?](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/656cbb01d39a.png)
[NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE what sort of Antichrist is she about to give birth to?](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/56c6eb22e071.png)
[Oh come on, Sensei! You know Kaya's legit at this point!](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/d61f104eef9f.png)
Thankfully she came around quickly, but yeah, if she acts like that about something/someone, you know there's a reason!
[Oh damn. So it's not even the mother... It's the child. Maybe I wasn't just kidding about the Antichrist.](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/e2a9fe3642ba.png)
[](#flustered)
Well, I suppose it explains why Kaya can't do anything about it;
Some people were speculating that she was 'training' to become powerful enough to deal with the mom/thing... But it's not really that, she simply can't kill the thing while it's inside her mom....
Question is, will she be able to kill the thing when it's possessing the child (without, you know, killing the child)?
For a moment there I thought Chie had gotten used to seeing ghosts and was just not being judgemental about Kaya's mother lol
The show doesn't have the production values of Hikaru, but it is directed pretty well. The whole creepy vibe of the home visit because we saw it from the perspective of Kaya and not Chie-sensei.
"I love young people"
The father definitely has a strong backstory that led to all these. Hes voiced by Best Papa after all.
Cant wait for next week and seeing how this develops.
Mel-sensei's apron logo is still reversed! I'm guessing that issue is going to be resolved later.
So we finally find out what's wrong with Kaya's mum, she's pregnant with what appears to be a spector/demon baby. No wonder Kaya is a 'problem' for her mother if all she sees is that spector and not her mother.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this plot.
A missing girl? As luck would have it, Kaya and her dad run into her! But this poor girl can't go home...she's trying to escape a specter chasing after her. Thankfully Kaya follows her and slays the thing with a Kaya Chop, but tragically it seems like it was the specter of the missing old man they were looking for and who the girl chanced upon seeing his dead body when she was playing. His desperation and sadness at his fate turned him into a specter and caused him to go after the girl who had seen him...and she'll probably be traumatized for life.
You knew the moment that the preschool got dolls, that there would be a creepy, possessed, doll story and poor Nacchi ends up the victim. She didn't even want to see the dolls with her friends when the teacher told them not to, and next thing she knows she's latching onto a clearly unhinged baby doll that's slowly transforming her into itself...from ripped clothes, cut hair, and even ripping her tooth out.
Credit to her friends for trying to save her, and getting the doll away from her so Kaya can Kaya Smash it and free Nacchi! Let this be a lesson, never pick up cursed dolls or try to skirt around the teachers' rules.
Well, this home visit is already off to a great start with Chie in a pantsuit and Kaya looking so happy jumping rope! Up until the point where we see Kaya's mother who is, apparently, an eldritch abomination incapable of human speech. At least to Kaya, to Chie she's just a normal, friendly, mom she can easily get along with. Kaya is once again left feeling alone against this massive threat in her life.
Chie doesn't think she has any juicy details to deliver to Mob, but he can see just how cursed Kaya's mom is...AND SHE'S PREGNANT. In fact the baby developing in her belly is the host to the specter that's controlling her, and it's utterly impossible for Kaya to do anything about it. What's going to happen to the mom? What's going to happen whenever she gives birth? No wonder Kaya has mixed feelings about babies, even if that is her little sibling, it supernaturally stole her mother from her.
Every one of these incidents seems to be a tragedy both for the people and the specters involved, definitely a Japan to not live in. Isekai me right out of there.
Big reveal in this episode regarding the mother. You can wonder why Kaya can view why she hates babies in the doll part of the episode. Speaking of that episode, that part felt pretty uncomfortable, especially when the girl pulled her own tooth out.
Also in the first episode, the specter is the man who died and who wanted to go home. Though curious why it went after the girl. That section of the episode dealt with the lost child encounter that is scary and the specter preventing the girl from going home. Very much aligns with how it can be difficult to find a child when they are missing. At least Kaya was around to help.
I thought the teacher could see it and was feigning ignorance out of like survival instinct.
But the way they played it out was very solid. Kaya Chan isn't scary 100% a solid sleeper show.
Hmm, anyway, looking forward to the next episode!
I wonder though does that mean that the baby soul is being overwritten by the entity or did the entity possessed the infant before a soul was there? Would the infant be a normal child or a sort of half ghost hybrid ? It’s scary just thining about it
And now another person has got possessed... and wow this is suddenly darker and actually creepy. Lucky for her that's a milk tooth but still... Poor Nacchi! They are lucky Kaya's there.
Speaking of people possessed, that one teacher from earlier episode likely still is, her soul trapped in the mirror.
As revealed by Mob, it is Kaya's house that is the bad house. We only see her mother's spirit form as Kaya sees her, while sensei and dad happily chat away. Poor Kaya, Medalist is not the only series this season that has me feeling alternately sorry and triumphant for little kids.
And what a reveal at the end... Kaya mentioning she doesn't like babies takes on a new sense of dread now. So it is the baby, not the mom... yikes. I feel like the series is now really amoing up the stakes.
>.> the self inflicting bit was getting pretty uncomfortable, surprised it only took whacking the doll
Kaya can only see the possession and not her mother anymore, well that’s a different horror then usual
… oh….
So what’s japans stance on abortions?
That place has some awful luck. Just constant spiritual attacks. Although maybe it's not luck? That the toys were brought in by the head of the daycare right after she committed spiritual terrorism by inflicting curse books on a book store...the idea that she might be evil is growing more realistic. Lot easier for all these cursed objects to end up in that place if the person in charge is behind it all.
Ohhhh man...the tooth thing. Just nope...nope...Credit to her friends for doing their part in helping her. But to be fair...they were at fault in the first place by playing with those toys when they weren't supposed to. The reluctant one ended up paying the highest price here. The clothes...eh whatever. Thankfully she didn't lose much hair either. But the tooth...sure hope it wasn't a permanent one.
Chie kind of hit a low point in this episode. I get scary stuff is scary. But shouldn't she be remotely worried for Kaya if there's something dangerous in her house? Especially because if it's still there then clearly Kaya can't handle it? At no point does she show concern for Kaya herself. She's falling behind Mob in terms of the useful adults around Kaya category. Just seemed completely focused on herself. Which is a bit sad since Kaya was quite cheerful and happy to see her. Which shows how much trust Chie has earned in Kaya's eyes. And yet she couldn't remotely tell how distressed Kaya was. Just yucking it up with Kaya's parents and then cheerfully leaving afterwards. Honestly this episode makes me feel like I overrated how useful an ally Chie really is or can be for Kaya. I get she can't see the supernatural. But for someone who talked about hearing what Kaya had to say...she completely ignored what she had to say about her mother. It's a bit annoying having her constantly get angry with or insult Mob when he's actually got his eye on the ball. At this point the only thing useful advantage she brings is her job letting her be near Kaya without problems.
Kaya's situation is so much worse than I thought. It'd be one thing if things were obviously awful with her to the degree that her father and others could tell. But instead no one can tell. Kaya's able to see and hear the level of awful that's attached to her mother and can't do anything about it. Just living in a nightmare where no one understands her and every sound that comes from her mother is just pure awful. Of course I do feel for her mother as well. She's clearly possessed by something that's deteriorating her physical well-being and her daughter is at best distant and at worst is terrified of her. And of course the huge horror here is that is appears like her unborn child is the cause. Which yeah...if the issue is inside of her mother's womb...what the heck can Kaya do about that? No one's going to open her mother up so Kaya can punch her insides!
I don't even want to wrap my head around could happen if that thing is actually born into the world! They really gave Kaya the Superman dilemma. This entity normally wouldn't be too much for Kaya to handle. But her mother is basically a living shield. Kaya can normally smash or punch whatever needed. But smacking her mother wouldn't do much since she's not making contact with the actual host. And heck...even trying would be a bit difficult since no one's going to let Kaya start swinging at a pregnant woman...
The doll is creepy, I don’t want to think about what would have happened if it was allowed to keep going on for longer. Btw, wasn’t there three pairs of eyes and mouths or did all of them belong to the one spirit?
But “I don’t like babies” is a good few steps beyond just creepy into true dread territory. I don’t know how the spirit ended up in there but that’s the sort of thing that scars a kid for life.
Something I've caught from watching the English Dub and a reaction on YouTube that was the sub version, the Dub gets the translation slightly wrong both times in Dub kaya says "stupid baby" in the sub she says "I don't like babies"
“She often takes the initiative to do what she ****** very dependable. If anything is **** her father ****”
“ most of the time she only acts ****** become very *********** that’s our Kya”
I couldn’t make out what she said after that but I think I might have heard the word “issue”
