[I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't expect it right after they mentioned the age.](https://i.imgur.com/K3LE51a.jpeg) But at least it's not a literal transition.

Alright, so Kunon can see now, optically... but he still needs to learn how to process this new information. At first I was confused why he wasn't more overwhelmed, but then I remembered he was literally building up to it, he was ready.
I guess all this time I didn’t notice the giant ass crab lurking in the corner lol. Bro finally made working eyeballs and *that* is what he sees? I wonder what’s going on?
like even if he learned to "see" before all this, and something out of the world like that is seen it would be traumatic to me
makes me think of something like what happened in qualidea code , what if our brain recognizes thing cause it's programmed to but if you somehow get over that layer the world is actually... like a cosmic horror scenery or something.
"eh?"
The way Zeonly uses the water bed to shut down the other sorcerers. I'm surprised by how affectionate Kunon is with Zeonly, didn't he say "I love you" was only reserved for Mirika? Or am I remembering incorrectly?
You're probably right though.
I was going to let my suspension of disbelief lead the way on this, but maybe they are addressing this issue. The preview kind of alludes to he's not seeing things quite accurately, yet.
It's because they read the LN and just spoiled it word for word. They got around the "no spoilers" part by prefacing it with "calling it now" to make it seem like they're guessing.
Also not sure why a magic school route is needed when he’s creating “historical feats” without ever needing to go there.
Dropped for now, might come back at the end and see if it’s worth picking up again.
With how malleable (dependent on imagination) magic seems to be in this universe, it's less that he just "used" his two spells and suddenly made an eye. It's more that he did a bunch of research into how it might be possible to send images into his mind using water and then figured out a way to do that using the only two spells he knows.
It does seem a bit pointless.
He's spent over 2 years working with the greatest mages in the nation, who all went to that school. He already impressed them from the start with what he's learnt from his own experiments and from his tutor.
Not sure what he can gain from a magic school for 12 year olds. Maybe the aim is for it to be more character developing? Though I suspect it's just a new cast of people to gasp in amazement at his prowess.
I asked the same previously, and someone explained how there are people who technically can see but is still legally blind. Kunon would fall under those type.
Giving us some perspective of how Kunon saw things would definitely help us appreciate the eye better.
Best guess is the animators just didn't want to bother with making the clones blobs that just kinda looked like the subject, so they cheated despite how that is a pretty clear plot hole.
This episode at least seems to be pretty clearly saying that while he could observe the world pretty well, and he'd essentially gotten used to it enough that it wasn't disruptive to his life, he was definetly NOT able to clearly "see" the people around him and the new eyes solve that problem (Plus or minus a giant crab)
It's not like every show with a disabled character needs to be like The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife in terms of considerations, but I get the sense that the author never even read about a blind person before writing this story.
Maybe I'm just understanding it wrong, but to me it feels like he could already perceive color. I mean he could recreate the maid's copy very accurately including the color of her clothes.
There's a real-life question about how we have no idea if anyone sees the world the same way you do. Yes, the cones in your eyes respond the same way as mine, but how can we prove our brains translate that information the same way? For all you or I know, we could be looking at a red ball, agree it's red, but how your brain translates red could appear as green to my brain.
His magic lets him read the information but he's not directly perceiving it.
"This apple is this colour (red), this apple is this different colour (green)"
But he's not *seeing* the colours, shapes, etc. It's filtered through his magic. Like if I was to describe the world around us to you in incredible detail.
Of course colour in the first place is largely a property of light / how vision works, but I can handwave that.
He was basically using magic to sense what was around him in close range.
He eventually figured out more details like the color and texture.
But it technically isn't the same as seeing with actual eyes.
They could've showed what the writer imagined he sees. But probably he wanted the audience to imagine as per their understanding.
The harder part for me to reconcile is that he could read books and notes.
I just didnt want to rush to that unsatisfying conclusion because i been guilty before of not giving the author enough credit, and later found out he was following a cool logic.
If it’s still not clear imagine being blindfolded and holding a green apple, you know what you’re holding is an apple and it’s green, but you can’t actually see what is that you’re holding, your magic is just telling you that what you’re holding is a green apple. He’s been getting information with no image to go with it and now he’s getting the actual image
I'm also glad he didn't get the eyes right at first try. It'll be nice seeing him trying to come up with ways to solve it.
I like the idea of Mirika the swordswoman.
Magic eyeballs are a go! I like that it's a weird magical construct and not just a real floating eyeball. Though on the other hand, are magical eyeballs a good thing if they expose the giant crab that's hanging out in the room with you? Better just not to know.
Kunon the sorcerer can see the giant crab
I was thinking Kunon had finished his quest, but thankfully we have the giant crab to throw a wrench in things. I'm guessing he can percieve a spirit realm or something like that on top of the real world?
I have a feeling this is going to be an amazing gift but maybe it will lead to danger, people aren't meant to see those things...
A personal attack targeting my handwriting
Edit: Oh giant enemy crab. He's gotta be seeing some truth of the world beyond regular sight rather than it just being an error right
...Unless a crab just happened to show up in his room legit, as in like anyone would've seen it if they were there too
I wonder if we'll see a time jump next... seems this series is speeding through the various stages of his education.
Wait, he's realized his goal!? And what is that?! Does his magical gaze extend between dimensions or something? Interesting!
That spell can be really overpowered, even if the person can see.
A lot happened this episode. We got Zeonly using Kunon as a human copy machine, a 2-year time skip, Zeonly getting rich off his magic tools and Kunon's unpaid labor, and Kunon seemingly achieving his goal at the halfway point of the series. I was not expecting a [GIANT ENEMY CRAB](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqFFuhBjqjg) to be one of the first things Kunon sees with his new eyesight though.
The black haired master was such an asshole to Kunon, not giving him any money for his heating invention and chewing him out for not reading and copying notes fast enough when he's blind. He was right though that Kunon needed a skilled water magician that he couldn't be. They did seem to rush thru a lot, like his teachers at the magic academy, what did they teach him specifically to learn how to make his seeing eye? Are there any really good instructors who helped him a lot? I don't know whats ahead but it seems they skipped too much.
What is ***Crablante*** San doing here? :D
Edit: Though maybe this is too technical for a magic anime. It'll be some equivalent.
