Hi majorfuckboydaddy, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

Why do people talk like this on the internet

majorfuckboydaddy2026-02-01 16:58

What the fuck do you mean??? Huh!? What's your problem with me?! I try to be different ONCE and everyone suddenly hate son me???? Wow. This is insane. The Internet has changed!

BananaMinte2026-02-01 16:53

Hmm myb try Fruits Basket, DanDaDan, Apothecary Diaries, Spy x Family, those are pretty lighter than the ones you mentioned

tiny_nova2026-02-01 16:55

*Hyouka* and *Shoushimin* are 2 great Holmes-esque mysteries set in high school. They're not death games like Danganronpa. Hyouka is pretty low stakes, Shoushimin takes it up a notch, but still not that level. **MUCH** better examples of *mystery* imo.

*Gnosia* is another VN based anime with mystery and fun character, like Danganronpa. I think it's still going? It's based on Mafia/The Werewolf game if you know those.

Maybe *Another*. Mystery, deaths, supernatural. Prone to spoilers, so I'll leave it there. I enjoyed it personally.

You could watch “Bocchi the rock”. It’s a little Yuri, short and for me very funny. So basically it’s comedy with a slice of life

HoneydewJust4You2026-02-01 17:05

not sure about gay-specific, but Blue Period is LGBT friendly! (trans character, boy living as girl)

fair warning though, it does have some stressful moments.. but it's also a beautiful story (and a quick 12 ep series) and a different subject (art) that you don't see often in anime

if you're willing to forego the gay stipulation, the below are very fun & heartwarming Rom-Com/Slice of Life anime:

- The Quintessential Quintuplets

- Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister

- Honey Lemon Soda

- A Sign of Affection

- Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie

- You and I are Polar Opposites

- Dealing with Mikadono Sisters is a Breeze

- Tomo-chan is a Girl!

- Love Tyrant

- Romantic Killer

- Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms

- Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

- Aharen-san wa Hakarenai

- Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!

- Horimiya

For context, I myself am a gay lady, and love each and every one dearly 🥰

Hope you find at least one to your fancy

quintopia2026-02-01 17:08

Hmm, you sound like the kind of person who'd be into Gushing Over Magical Girls

quintopia2026-02-01 17:09

Like, even if you \*didn't\* like Madoka, perhaps.

Cephalo_Kayum2026-02-01 17:23

Did heat about Detective Conan and Apothecary Diaries? How about Dr Stone?

"Hunter Hunter Demon Hunter My hero academia Naruto Demon Hunter My hero academia Naruto"

There's your mistake. Literally all of those are published in the same magazine, Shonen Jump (i assume you meant Demon Slayer), so it's sort of like only watching Marvel content then wondering why none of it's hitting - when you simply don't like superhero stuff. About 90% of popular Shonen anime are from Shonen Jump and most of the remaining 10% are from Shonen Magazine, their main rival, this is the basic equivalent of the "Marvel vs DC" thing in America.

One thing you should check before starting anything is episode count and whether it's finished or if you'd have to read a book or comic to find out how it ends, which is fairly common.

This is some stuff you can check out for some variety (ordered roughly from shortest to longest, and all of these are basically done as stories):

Erased

Death Parade

Angel Beats

Haibane Renmei

Girl's Last Tour

Psych-Pass (just the first 25 episode show, they made sequels later but they're entirely optional and not as good)

From the New World / Shinsekai Yori

Casshern Sins

Rainbow

Black Lagoon

Death Note

Monster

Mushishi
