Make a mal account
GreenRangerJr12026-02-01 20:40
Or MyAniList app on phone super easy to keep track
N7CombatWombat2026-02-01 20:41
By developing my ability to generate and store memories. Not that I always remember everything about everything I've watched, but I'm pretty good about remembering that I watched a title. But, I recommend making an account with myanimelist.net or anilist.co, especially if you're new to anime. It's easier to start and keep up with a list that way.
No_Cockroach24672026-02-01 20:42
I look at a thing and if I remember the thing then I watched the thing and if I don't remember it then it doesn't really matter if I already watched it or not.
uselessDM2026-02-01 20:42
MAL
I probably would forget most I watched honestly even if I enjoyed them. But I also like to give recommendations, so having that list as a reference is pretty handy.
MalingSendal2026-02-01 20:43
i use MAL though i often forgot to update those aswell
LilSopa__2026-02-01 20:44
Just use Anilist or Mal.
CommanderZx22026-02-01 20:44
Are you binging anime? That's a quick way to forget it.
CommentStrict89642026-02-01 20:44
How can you not remember what you watched? If you watched a series, can you honestly say you don't remember the plot at all?
Few_Highlight11142026-02-01 20:50
Maybe they just have it playing while theyre looking at their phone or doing something else and they count that as "watching".
Not being able to remember what youve seen is absurd.
itogisch2026-02-01 20:50
Ok, to be fair, i can rewatch a show and not remember the plot at all. With enough time I can forget even stuff like LoTR.
But I will ALWAYS remember that I watched a show/movie.
Not sure how you can forget that you watched something. That you forgot the plot or important scenes sure. But that you watched it in general?
Nareto642026-02-01 21:13
I think there's a difference between being able to recall a show when presented with it on a list or something, and being made to recall every show you watched on the spot.
If someone walked up to me on the street and asked me to name every show I've ever watched, I would probably be able to name like 1/3 of that.
If I had to sort through a list of anime, and point out which ones I've seen, I would be able to find all of them. It would be more difficult to fully recall the entire plot of some of them, but I will at least remember that I had watched it and have a general idea on my feelings about it.
Nareto642026-02-01 21:09
It happens to me a lot, especially after watching so much anime. Usually I can remember it if I rewatch or at least look at the promo art or something, but just recalling a random show out of nowhere is pretty difficult unless it's one that left a big impression on me.
Think about it, if you watched 15-20 cookie cutter isekai or romcoms years ago, would you be able to easily pick out which is which?
Also, I don't second screen watch anime, I devote my whole attention to it. It is just genuinely hard to remember some things.
CommentStrict89642026-02-01 21:12
Yes I remember all the shows I've watched.
One of the earlier shows I've watched is Shuffle! I don't remember all the plots. But I do remember the general setup and the ending. Even though that was 20+ years ago.
Nareto642026-02-01 21:18
Fair enough. It's not as though I can't remember anything about some shows. I can remember that I've watched a show, and my general feelings about it, at least. But for things like plot and stuff? It depends on the show, how memorable it was, how long ago it was, what stage of my life I was in at the time of watching it, all kinds of stuff to determine how much I can remember on the spot. Of course, if I were to rewatch an anime, or even just scroll through the MAL page, it would all start coming back to me. The memories are there, it's just hard to access them sometimes and takes some coercion.
InfiniteEstimate9772026-02-01 20:44
I pretty much known what I've watched and could make a new list from memory.
MusubiKazesaru2026-02-01 20:45
Make a list somewhere. I remember nearly all of them, but it's sometimes useful when you've seen thousands, a few wind up falling to the wayside.
NekoNocturneSL2026-02-01 20:46
Pareil tellement j'en regarde trop...
NekoNocturneSL2026-02-01 20:47
Liste les en vrai
Responsible_Cat63062026-02-01 20:50
by having 10 tabs opened on my pc and slowly closing them as i lose interest, only to then refind that anime i never finished like 3 years later, and repeat the process XD
SleepyPiplup992026-02-01 20:50
Create a mal or anilist account. If you have a bad memory you could also add a comment of your feelings when you finished the show.
I relied on memories before I knew you could make lists. I was lucky with having a good memory with pictures. So I went through the whole alphabet and added everything I completed. After that I kept up with my anilist. Of course having watched anime for about 14 years consistently you don’t remember everything.
Bymeemoomymee2026-02-01 20:51
I use a personal Excel file.
porpoiseoflife2026-02-01 20:51
https://www.myanimelist.net
I've been updating my list on there for 13 years. Every time I finish an episode of seasonal titles or after I'm done with a chunk of episodes from a backlog title, I update it.
ClearStrike2026-02-01 20:52
My anime list
Reading the names of anime
Looking up reviews to see if it sparks a memory.
Appropriate-While6012026-02-01 20:58
If it's good you will naturally remember it but I have a list of everything just in case. I like to go back and rewatch stuff
bronchitis572026-02-01 21:00
Sites like Anilist or MAL, Google Docs, some other Text Document, write it on a piece of paper. There are more than enough options
alcalcalcalcalca2026-02-01 21:01
bruh people learned how to note since the beginning of time
Duhamhim2026-02-01 21:01
My Anime List or Anime Plant that has a customizable chart to show how Otaku you are. I have 14,079 episodes, specials and movies combined watched. It gets blurry.
Especially when you start at 14, somethings need to be rewatched with an adult mind.
16,585 if using Anime Planet because some niche specials and crossovers are not listed on MAL. That's 9months 5days 4hours
BlackReaper232026-02-01 21:05
i keep a word document on my phone with \~500 anime i've watched and rated
Dull_Spot_82132026-02-01 21:09
I started an anilist around 2 years ago. It helps me keep track of everything starting from those years and I’ve slowly been filling in the backlog along the way. I’ve watched anime for a long time and I’m still remembering and adding shows to the list going back to movies I watched as a kid decades ago. It’s easy to forget that one random show from 2002 or that you forgot to add the third season from that other show when you’re trying to log 30 years of content. But things jog your memory, like the “anime of the week” here reminded me of *Tales of Earthsea*, and I went back and added that one to the list. Wouldn’t have crossed my mind otherwise.

Thanks for your help
Environmental_Guava42026-02-01 21:10
Crunchyroll, tells me if it is watched or not. Netflix does same, Amazon does same, Hulu does same. Outside of those (like watching from a disc or something) then perhaps make an Excel spreadsheet and type the animes you have watched. I used to put them on Notion and give them there personal ratings and if they were worth watching again (also I put some tags like categories, number of episodes, etc).
Panty-Sniffer-122026-02-01 21:24
You gotta be old af lol
IceSmiley2026-02-01 21:30
I remember every specific show I've seen but for episodes I keep one note on my phone for currently running shows and one for older shows with whatever number episode I'm on
BrowningBDA92026-02-01 22:37
Use Myanimelist or your local analogue that allows you to create your personal anime lists. I'm Russian, so I mostly use World-art.ru.
Quiddity1312026-02-01 22:41
MyAnimeList, plus my own personal excel spreadsheet...
LunarTitanium2026-02-02 03:56
I just use a text file to track where I am in each show as well as shows I want to watch.
