Is there a REAL fanmade anime dub?

Okay I feel like everybody knows fansubs which already take a lot of work and time, but I am curious if there is such a thing as a fandub? And if there is, is it actually good, does it cover the full series? A full fanmade dub for an anime would be incredibly impressive, so I doubt it, but if you've ever heard/seen one be sure to tell! (I've only seen abridged dubs which are incredibly funny lol.)

So years ago there was a fandub of the early episodes of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars by a group called Negavision. Their goal was to finish off the English dub in the style of the Dic dub, though without the censorship. For example Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune were back to being lovers.

They completed the Nehelenia arc in Sailor Stars and the first episode with the Starlights.

I see a lot of people doing them for manga on YouTube. But I am not sure if there is a place to distribute anime fandubs.

Fanedits have the same thing where they have a weird distribution model.

There absolutely are. I remember working on a fandub of the Digimon Tamers Runaway Digimon Express movie around 2005 (which was completely and released by FET-kun)

There's a full fanmade dub for the movie "Hotarubi no Mori e". It's really good! I had accidentally watched that version instead of the sub, because I thought it was an official dub. I could notice *some* quality difference, but not to the point that I realized it was a fandub.

Thats seriously awesome

I'm actually working on creating a fandub of Interspecies Reviewers.

It is not too serious, not too long, and will almost certainly never get a real dub so I figured why not?

I have worked on a number of films with a bunch of amateur actors who would lend their voices, I have access to professional recording and editing equipment, and since I don't have episodes without a language track, I have a musician who can provide the music and sound effects for my dubbed episodes.

Entirely a fan project, mostly just to see if I can. So no promises on future endeavors, but if/when I finally release this I'll be sure to mention it on this sub.

Oh wow, interesting. Ill check it out if it ever becomes a thing

Can't speak for other countries, but fandubbing is extremely big in Russia. The kind of big where ~90%, maybe more, of modern seasonals are available in fandub as they release. Full series dubs are also absolutely a thing.

The quality... Varies case by case. Some are practically professional quality. Some are passable. Some are a guy in his late 20s with a 2000s mic doing his best impression of a little girl. Some are so bad they become memes.
