I absolutely loved this scene and it felt like CloverWorks was just flexing at this point. I am praying that they can bring this level of passion to finish Marin and Gojo's story in S3.

I can't see a discussion of this scene without mentioning [the title Crunchyroll decided to use when they uploaded the clip to YouTube](https://i.imgur.com/THv9Pvx.png).

Jesus christ, that's wild

The people who load up the crunchyrol videos are unhinged. They post a lot of titles like this!
colemon19912026-02-02 17:34
Were they predicting a John Wick ending to this story or something? Geez
awesomenessofme12026-02-02 17:54
I mean, that's the joke, yeah. (Not that series specifically, it's a trope that's appeared in several places, but that's the general idea.)
colemon19912026-02-02 17:58
The fact that they aren't married and teenagers makes it a tad more disturbing to me.
awesomenessofme12026-02-02 17:59
It's literally just a joke about how similar it looks to those kinds of videos that show up in action movies. I think you're reading too far into it.

My most rewatched scene of Season 2. Marin is simply dazzling here.
SubmissiveDinosaur2026-02-02 17:41
I have that same camera model.
Zado1912026-02-02 17:41
I found d the second season really unengaging, there was too much focus on all those other side characters
NonSupportiveCup2026-02-02 17:43
....yeah. that's weird.
Interesting on a cinematic level.
But also . . . fucking strange.

So, this is what otakus think a date is like?
Ebo872026-02-02 19:24
It's not a date, she got a new camera and they were trying it out, that's it.

Dress up darling just seems like nothing but loner bait.
PublicMeaning3412026-02-02 18:05
Ironically the creator of Dress Up Darling is a woman and it's *Marin* that's supposed to be the self-insert of the show as a whole, not Gojo.
Ebo872026-02-02 19:28
Yep, she made her dream husbando in Gojo, but some people sure LOVE to spin whatever they feel like is the ultimate truth, even when they have no idea of anything regarding the thing they are expressing an opinion on.

Gojo won at life
EidolonRook2026-02-02 17:59
I struggle to believe girls like Marin exist. She’s so free of and unburdened by so many pressures and struggles of the women I’ve known in my life. Even the “she gained weight” episode felt like it only marginally dampened her spirits for a while.
I feel like it’s a fantasy these days to ever believe women can ever be this happy, which is probably why seeing her become so openly happy in her cosplay adventure is such a pleasant fiction to watch unfold.
Quiddity1312026-02-02 18:32
Having just finished it, it is a very good and fun show to watch. I can totally see the criticism if someone was to say Marin was too perfect. Even when they introduce an element to the story where it looks like someone can't stand being around her, no, it's not because she doesn't like her, but because she's infatuated with her.
Wish fulfillment? Or showing that when you're that attractive and are at an age where you don't have many responsibilities yet, life can be great?
EidolonRook2026-02-02 18:51
Well said, but I feel like even the basic struggles, at least for American teens, really breaks down their spirits to a more cynical and less vivacious outward expression. She seemed oblivious to a lot of the stresses a normal girl her age might feel, but that did play to part of her charm.
I’m in no way bashing the character, because I too felt like her vivacious and zany personality was central to her story and her relationships but… as sad as it seems, happy go lucky women in popular media really does feel like wish fulfillment at this point.
Quiddity1312026-02-02 18:58
I can't recall Marin ever struggling with schoolwork (although I think they touched upon it with Gojo). As mentioned they did at least at one point focus on the fact that she had a bad diet and the costumes Gojo made for her didn't fit anymore. Beyond that it really is all sunshine and rainbows.
Granted, this isn't a show to be taken super seriously. It's supposed to be light and fun. They could add an element like Marin having a stalker. Or her modeling agency wanting her to do lewd photos she's uncomfortable with. Or from the other end that Marin simply uses Gojo rather than having affection for him because she gets tons of attention from other guys. Would be way more realistic. I don't think people would be anywhere as happy watching the show if it went in those directions.
EidolonRook2026-02-02 19:09
Yep. That’s my basic point.
fx9TMK2026-02-02 18:02
Aren’t all POV supposed to be first person? Or am I missing something here?

This is one of those times where I think using a 3D rendered landscape really helped a scene. I mean it's tough to do parallax shift while moving forward with the ground in the shot with *just* cells. Sure you can do 2 of those with cells alone, but this is all 3 and really underscores the POV nature of the scene.
Doomed-here49092026-02-02 18:07
Crazy animation for a SoL scene. Cloverworks did a really good job with this show.
TheHoss_2026-02-02 18:09
The art direction all season was amazing
IngenuitySilly27632026-02-02 18:15
The animation looks surprisingly clean for a POV project. CloverWorks really set the bar so high with her design that anything less than this wouldn't feel like Marin, but this captures her energy perfectly.
Honest_Yesterday44352026-02-02 18:25
Somebody sell me on this show without spoilers plz.
Ok_Recover_31112026-02-02 18:27
The way she looks at the camera is actually dangerous for my mental health. If I saw this in VR, I’d probably forget to breathe. 10/10 would go broke buying her cosplay supplies again.

It's incredible how the animators modeled that entire park just for Marin to flex in. She's as wonderful to watch as ever.

Kinda sad how the anime will end just as they get together, just like it happened in the manga, about time we stop doing that with adult relationships in manga right???

POV: You are Gojo but you forgot to take your meds today and realized you're actually just staring at a sewing machine in a dark room.
